DIES PACIS: DAY OF PEACE

DIES PACIS: DAY OF PEACE BY AUTUMN MARIA REED (2’30”)

Purchase Now | MediumString Orchestra

Program Notes: “DIES PACIS” quotes the theme of ”Dies Irae” or "the day of wrath."
“DIES PACIS” is dedicated to the memory of Gordon Francis Blaney, Jr. He was a multi-instrumentalist and Berklee alum.
We met through a variety of Facebook groups devoted to music composition and orchestration. He had mental health issues, autism, and epilepsy.
Gordon died tragically in a car accident in 2020, at the age of 37. Gordon and I would talk about music, mental health, and spirituality on a regular basis. One of my spiritual views is that death is a form of relief from pain, similar to serenity or peace. (In Latin, PACIS.)
Gordon's life was cut short, as evidenced by the unresolved music over notes G, F, and B (Gordon's initials). — Autumn Maria Reed, composer.
