Program Notes: "RESILIENCE started out when I was noodling a rhythmic figure on my string bass. I struggle with anxiety and tend to fidget with my hands. So, I developed this rhythmic figure as an ostinato for a string orchestra piece. Despite the lively nature, the sections represent trauma, coping, suppression, then coping. I tend to cope with my anxieties with a jocular nature."

Program Notes: "YANKADI — I wanted to compose music that explored an ostinato rhythm, especially from West Africa. I researched YouTube videos about rhythms and learned about the Yankadi rhythm from Guinea. This rhythmic figure is played on hand drums for courtship gatherings. So, I applied this rhythm to a string quartet."
